Since 2003, I have been trying to replace my day job with a business of my own. I had success, but failed multiple times. Lost a lot of money. Got divorced. Went bankrupt. Even lost my home.
But I kept on going.
Despite the struggle and mistakes, I have been learning a whole lot. I pretty much had a crash course MBA in the real world of business.
I hope you’ll find the lessons I learned – in trying to be financially independent – helpful.
I also hope to connect with others walking this path. It does get lonely sometimes.

My Story (if you care)
My name is Louie. I live in Los Angeles, California. I am no guru. I did not come from a rich family. My parents were not entrepreneurs. I followed their footsteps by doing well in school, getting a college degree (even a Masters), getting a good job and working my way up the corporate world until I retire at 65. That was the original plan.
However, in 2003, I had enough of being an employee. I was burnt out. I wanted to do my own thing and be my own boss. I realized that what was keeping me from achieving my dreams was my JOB.
So one day, I said “Fuck it. I’m outta here.” I walked out the door of the consulting firm I worked for and quit.
That’s when my new life began. This blog is a collection of stories of my journey escaping the 8-to-5 rat race.
Why 8-to-5 and not 9-to-5?
Most employees have this work schedule. That was the schedule I had in most of my jobs – with one hour lunch (my favorite time of the day).
Yeah I’m a real person.

These people with me are the reasons why I want to be financially-free. (I’m the guy with no hair if you haven’t guessed already.)
